Wrinkles and fine lines on the face can make us look and feel older and less confident. By injecting neurotoxins, or neuromodulators, you can smooth your skin, reduce wrinkles, and look years younger! A neurotoxin works by preventing muscle contractions around the problem areas. At Frost Aesthetics, we offer two of the most popular and current injectables, Botox® and Xeomin®, to help reduce your lines and wrinkles.
These treatments usually take less than fifteen minutes and require little to no downtime. Most people notice a difference within a few days, but optimal results may take up to two weeks. Typically, neurotoxin injections last 3 to 6 months; however, regular injections may prolong their effects.
Botox® and Xeomin® are commonly used to treat:
- Glabellar lines, or frown lines
- Forehead lines and wrinkles
- Crow's feet lines & wrinkles around the eyes
- Fine lines/wrinkles around the lips
- Gummy smile
- Chin dimples
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Lateral eyebrow (Browlift)

Once injected into the muscles, Botox® or Xeomin® begin to work. After injection, they may show the final results for seven to fourteen days.
The number of injections you will need will depend on the type of neurotoxin used and your individual needs.
- 1 week before the treatment: You should avoid taking blood thinners such as Aspirin, NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Vioxx), St. John’s Wort, Fish Oil, Ginseng, Gingko, Biloba, and Vitamin E supplements (these may cause bleeding and bruising at the injection site). Please let us know if you are taking Coumadin or Plavix.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours before treatment.
- Schedule your neurotoxin treatment at least 2 weeks before a vacation or special event.
- Let us know if anything has changed in your medical history since your last appointment.
- If you have previously suffered from cold sores, you may need medications to prevent their recurrence.
- Arnica Montana and Bromelain tablets may help prevent bruising and swelling. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions or call our office for instructions.
- For 1 week after treatment: Prevent taking blood thinners, as listed above.
- Avoid massaging the treated area.
- Repeated treatments will produce the best results for wrinkle removal.
- Avoid lying down for a minimum of 4 hours and physical exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment.
- Exercising the area of the treatment is recommended (Frown/smile for 1 hour).
